Chilean Australian

About This Resource

What We Do

Chilean Australian brings together, in one welcoming place, the knowledge and stories that help the Chilean community in Australia stay connected to its roots — and that help everyone else fall in love with Chile.

We publish evergreen guides

At the core of the site is a small library of carefully written guides designed to last. Rather than chase the news cycle, we focus on the things that stay true year after year:

We document the community's culture

Culture lives in gatherings. We explain the events, festivals and traditions that keep Chilean-Australians connected — what they are, where they come from, and why they matter — so that a newcomer knows what to expect at a spring picnic and a second-generation kid understands the meaning behind the dance. Explore our guide to cultural events and festivals, including the much-loved Chile Fun Day tradition and the Chile Sentido exhibition.

We share stories

The Chilean-Australian community is full of quiet achievers — artists, tradespeople, scientists, cooks, teachers and volunteers. Our news and stories section celebrates the themes of that experience: creativity, resilience, and the everyday work of belonging to two places at once.

We connect you to trusted sources

We are a starting point, not the last word. Whenever there is an official or expert source — for travel, statistics, citizenship or the arts — we link you straight to it, from official Chilean travel information to national data and cultural institutions. Our aim is that you leave better informed and pointed toward the best next step.

What we don't do

To be clear about our role: we are an independent heritage resource. We are not a membership association, a consulate or a government service, and we do not process memberships, bookings, donations or official requests. If you need those, we will gladly point you toward the right organisation. Learn more about this resource and the values behind it.

How this site is organised

To make things easy to find, the resource is arranged into a few clear areas. Understanding Chile gathers our country guide and its culture and cuisine. The community in Australia tells the story of the diaspora and its contribution. Culture in action covers the events, traditions and exhibitions that bring people together. And stories reflects on the themes of the Chilean-Australian experience. Wherever you land, you'll find links guiding you to the next natural step.

Everything here is free to read, needs no login, and asks nothing of you but curiosity. We hope it saves you time, teaches you something, and points you toward the people and organisations doing wonderful work in the community today.
